Simone de LeoSimone de Leo graduated in Medicine and completed his fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the University of Milan under the guidance of Prof Luca Persani and Laura Fugazzola. During 2015 and 2016, he spent 18 months at Boston University where he worked as a research fellow supervised by Dr Lewis Braverman and Elizabeth Pearce and he was involved in studies about iodine deficiency, Graves’ disease, and thyroid disease in pregnancy. Currently he works as an Endocrinologist at the Istituto Auxologico Italiano of Milan and his research is focused on thyroid cancer. He published epidemiological, clinical, and molecular studies on this topic and he was an investigator in several clinical trials of TKIs, such as Lenvatinib, Vandetanib, Cabozantinib, and Selpercatinib. Since September 2018, he is a member of the Executive Committee and of the Website and Social Media Board of the European Thyroid Association. He participated and was invited to several national and international meetings, and won a poster contest at the Associazione Italiana della Tiroide meeting in 2012, the 15th International Thyroid Congress Trainee Grant Program in 2015, and the Presidential Poster Competition at the Endocrine Society in 2016.

Prof Bijay Vaidya PhD, FRCP, University of Exeter Medical School, UK
Bijay Vaidya is Consultant Endocrinologist at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, and Honorary Clinical Professor at the University of Exeter Medical School, United Kingdom. He obtained his MBBS degree from the Darbhanga Medical College, Darbhanga, India and a PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. He has clinical and research interest in thyroid diseases, particularly thyroid disorders in pregnancy and thyroid eye disease. He has served as Secretary, Treasurer and an Executive Committee Member of the British Thyroid Association, and a member of the Clinical Committee and the Programme Committee of the UK Society for Endocrinology. He has served on the guideline development task forces for the European Thyroid Association, the Royal College of Physicians, the European Group for Graves’ Orbitopathy and the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Prof Vaidya has co-authored over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
